I do a lot of networking as a fitness influencer. I spend at least a few hours each week talking to people on Instagram or at the gym. I’m amazed at all the different backgrounds I run across in these conversations.
Recently I had the opportunity to get to know Shelby. I was amazed at her transformation that I saw on Instagram (@shelby.fitish). Honestly if you’re someone who has been struggling with feeling like a change in your life is possible, go check out her profile. I won’t ruin the story by trying to tell it myself, but I think you’ll agree that she’s looking really great!
Here’s what she says about her story:
“Hi y’all! My name is Shelby Gonterman. I’m 24 and from Wapakoneta Ohio, a small farm town. I’ve worked about 50-80 hours a week since age 16. I’ve graduated college three times starting at age 16. I was too tired to cook or care about my health/image during these times. At 18, I was a manager at Pizza Hut so I ate there for free(who doesn’t love free) for practically every meal for two years. From age 16-20 I gained 80 pounds. I’ve never really been a small kid. After my first degree at age 20, my family started to become concerned with my health and size. After some hurtful comments, I decided to make changes with a personal trainer. Every Monday for 6 months, I learned how to navigate my food and the gym. I was on a roll and felt I could do this on my own. And I DID. 3 years later I’m 85 pounds down, off my blood pressure and anxiety medication, and stronger and happier than I’ve ever been” – Shelby
One of the biggest things that caught my attention was that she decided to make changes. That may be one of the hardest things for people to do. We can want things to be different, or tell ourselves we’ll do it, but progress really occurs when we actually decide to make changes.
She worked with a personal trainer every week for 6 months! Now three years later she’s reaping the rewards of all the hard work she put in. Personal training might not be for everyone, but you can see what great results she’s achieved.
While Shelby isn’t a client of mine, you can see the results that can be achieved with a trainer. (Yes, these days we have to disclose who is or isn’t a client. Too many people are lying about who they’ve trained. Sad isn’t it.) As a thank you for sharing in the joys of her success, I’m offering the first 10 clients 50% off my personal training plan. Lastly, go follow Shelby on Instagram! And thanks again for reading.
